Panic alarms go off as NY Giants rookie Malik Nabers leaves practice injured
This is a joke, right? NY Giants wideout Malik Nabers is looked at as being a savior for the Big Blue offense. However, right now, there's a ton of concern over the No. 6 overall pick due to an apparent foot injury suffered at practice.
According to reporter Pat Leonard, Nabers hurt himself during the first session following NY's preseason win over the Lions. Nabers tweaked his foot, took his shoe off and then limped off the field, per Leonard. Yeah, this is the last thing anyone wants to see for the youngster.
Malik Nabers left NY Giants practice with a foot injury and fans are worried
Leonard provided more information, saying that Nabers was on the ground with his sock off, with multiple team trainers taking a look at him. Of course, it's far too early to speculate on the severity of this injury, but whenever your first-round pick goes down, it's going to cause anxiety.
Nabers just made his preseason debut with the G-Men, but things didn't go as planned for him. He was on the field for 12 offensive snaps, but he didn't post a reception. Matter of fact, he didn't receive a single target from backup quarterback Drew Lock.
The speedster was understandably disappointed with how things went for him, but he also made it clear that he's going to keep working hard and look to improve on a daily basis. The hope was that he and Daniel Jones could look sharp together against the Texans for the next game of the summer.
However, Nabers' status for that showdown is now very much up in the air. Even if this isn't serious for him, Brian Daboll and Co. may look to rest him and not rush him back. There's a full regular season on the way for this team to worry about - a meaningless game against the Texans won't be high on the priority list for the WR. More info on Nabers should be coming soon. Until official word drops, countless NY supporters will be keeping their fingers crossed that this kid is going to be just fine.
