Patriots vs. Giants Key Players to Watch
New England Patriots
Rhamondre Stevenson: Stevenson has been one of the few lone bright spots on a Patriots’ offense that lacks explosive plays and players. The 25-year-old running back has posted 482 yards and three touchdowns on 126 carries, along with 32 receptions (45 targets) for 229 yards this season.
In the Patriots’ last game against the Colts, Stevenson had 102 total yards (88 rushing) on 23 touches. The 6-foot running back has rushed for 80-plus yards in back-to-back games and has a favorable matchup against the Giants' defense (135.1 rushing yards per game allowed).
New York Giants
Saquon Barkley: The star running back is coming off a fantastic game against Washington last week. Barkley had 83 yards on 14 carries and four receptions (five targets) for 57 yards and two touchdowns. For the Giants to walk away with their fourth win, they will need another complete performance from the veteran running back. This season, Barkley has 813 total yards and five total touchdowns.
Patriots vs. Giants Prediction and Pick
It’s surprising to see New England favored by more than a field goal on Sunday, especially since there’s some uncertainty at QB. Mac Jones hasn’t played well this season and has been pulled from three games.
Head coach Bill Belichick didn’t say who could start on Sunday in his Tuesday press conference but told all players to be ready to go, per ESPN’s Mike Reiss. Regardless, if Jones, Bailey Zappe, or Will Grier starts at QB, I don’t see the Patriots’ offense having much success.
As for the Giants, this season has quickly unraveled due to injury, but they showed some fight in last week’s win over the Commanders. New York is 1-2-1 ATS at home this season, which isn’t great, but it’s better than the Patriots’ road ATS (1-3).
The Giants haven’t had a lot of success at home this season (1-3), which plays a part in them being underdogs. However, I think New York’s defense (21 ppg and 4.5 yards per play) can keep the Patriots’ offense at bay and hit on a couple of big plays with Barkley.
