The additions brought in for the NY Giants this offseason have been spectacular. Darren Waller, Parris Campbell, the list goes on and on. However, that doesn't mean that some standout players haven't left town to sign with different squads. At the top of the list, safety Julian Love inking with the Seattle Seahawks still keeps people up at night.

With Love leaving East Rutherford for the rain in the Emerald City, the Giants have a huge void to fill at safety. Not only was Love a great player, but he was a team captain and fantastic teammate as well. Seahawks head man Pete Carroll, via a recent piece from Peter King, is fired up to have him in the Pacific Northwest. He made that much clear this week.

Losing Julian Love will impact the NY Giants next season

"“How many players in the league play over 1,000 snaps in the regular defense and over 200 on special teams? That’s extraordinary. It’s very rare to have an opportunity to get a player like that.”"

Pete Caroll

Love ended up signing a two-year deal with the Seahawks for $12 million. Per multiple reports, the Giants tried getting things done with Love during the bye week in 2022, but similar to how things went with running back Saquon Barkley, the two sides couldn't get on the same page.

Looking ahead to 2023, the Giants will rely on younger players to step in at safety, while general manager Joe Schoen also signed former Commanders safety Bobby McCain. Meanwhile for Love, he'll hope to make a big splash for his new squad starting Week 1.

Last season, Love posted 124 total tackles, two interceptions and five pass deflections. He was easily one of the most consistent defensive backs the Giants featured each week. If you're going to miss him donning a Big Blue jersey, you're not alone.
