PFF gives NY Giants fans almost no hope for an NFC East title in 2024

The Giants will enter 2024 in familiar territory as an underdog in the NFC East

When looking at the state of the NFC East heading into 2024, it's easy to say that the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles will be in a two-horse race for the division title. With both teams coming off playoff berths and having two star quarterbacks at the helm, it's easy to see why they would be the betting favorites to grab the division.

That said, with a great offseason and some new additions in key positions, fans should hesitate before completely ruling out the NY Giants in 2024. With Malik Nabers finally filling the shoes left by Odell Beckham Jr. on the outside, the offensive line finally getting some reputable reinforcements, and Brian Daboll hungry for another taste of the playoffs - the Giants are in a perfect spot to play spoiler.

However, when it comes to the Giants' chance to compete for the NFC East title, PFF doesn't share the same sentiment. They recently dropped the odds each team in the division has on taking the title in 2024 and things aren't looking good for the G-Men:

The New York Giants have reason for optimism next season

While it's not fair to say the Giants should be favored to win the title next season, 11 percent does seem awfully low. With Daniel Jones healthy and now with true competition in Drew Lock, there is hope he will return to his 2022 form. Not to mention, the Giants start their season playing against the Minnesota Vikings and Washington Commanders, which are two winnable games and there's a realistic path to 2-0.

For the Giants, the recipe to success in 2024 is quite simple. Firstly, the team will live and die on the success of its defense. Last season, the Giants' defense was solid, and it was the only reason the Giants had a chance to win most of their games. A similar output, with just a mediocre or average offense, can lead the Giants to surpass expectations.

Along with the defense, having Jones and his playmakers stay healthy is paramount. Allowing the offense time to mesh and develop chemistry will be crucial… especially with such a young WR corps. Players like Wan'Dale Robinson, Darius Slayton, and Nabers all have the opportunity to shine and prove themselves as stars. Time will tell if they step up to the plate or again find themselves struggling amid a below-average offense.

All in all, this season is make-or-break for the G-Men. Whether it's Jones, Coach Dabes, Joe Schoen, or really anyone, the pressure is at an all-time high. However, as the saying goes, pressure builds diamonds. Let's hope the Giants can come out shiny by the end of 2024 and prove the doubters wrong en route to a successful campaign.
