PFF predicts this NY Giants UDFA to make the 53-man roster
As soon as the 2024 NFL Draft wrapped up, NY Giants general manager Joe Schoen was hard at work getting deals done with undrafted free agents. UDFAs are always easy to root for. Just ask a Giants fan about Tommy DeVito and their face will surely light up.
For this year's UDFAs class, there are definitely some intriguing options currently in East Rutherford. So, could any of them end up impressing Schoen and Co. this summer and make it on the 53-man roster? Pro Football Focus came out with a list of each UDFA to watch for each team, and they think Wyoming wide receiver Ayir Asante could stick around for NY once the season-opener gets here.
Will WR Ayir Asante be able to crack the Giants 53-man roster?
"Asante transferred to Wyoming and made the most of his limited options in 2023. The former Holy Cross receiver caught just 21 of his 40 targets but converted six of those catches into touchdowns and averaged 16.9 yards per reception. Asante’s 67.8 grade in 2023 was solid, and his dynamism presents an interesting chess piece for the Giants offense."

Asante, a 6-0, 180-pounder, spent the 2023 season with Wyoming after transferring in from Holy Cross. He posted 21 receptions for 372 yards and six touchdowns. On special teams, he added eight kick returns for 166 yards - an average of 20.8 yards per return.
The wide receivers room is looking a little different for the G-Men heading into 2024, as the addition of No. 6 overall pick Malik Nabers still has everyone talking. Nabers impressed at rookie minicamp, making some exciting grabs already.
With the lack of consistent play for the aerial attack in recent seasons, Brian Daboll is going to want every body he can get to try and help out Daniel Jones, or Drew Lock if he ends up surprising us all in winning the QB1 job. Asante may not be a big name by any means, but he's shifty and showcased reliable hands in '23 with Wyoming. We still feel it's a longshot for him to be around once Week 1 gets here, but he'll be a name to watch from start to finish at training camp.
