While the NY Giants will need to hold onto Daniel Jones' expensive contract for at least one more season, general manager Joe Schoen could be searching for his future replacement in the 2024 NFL Draft. Some Big Blue fans believe they will select a quarterback at No. 6 overall, but the Giants have been linked to many other offensive weapons.

Should NY select a new signal-caller to succeed Jones or a true No. 1 wideout to bolster the roster? According to a recent mock draft from Pro Football Network, the Giants could do both of those while dumping Danny Dimes' contract in the process.

PFN predicts them to select LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers with the No. 6 overall pick before subsequently trading up by sending the No. 47 overall pick, a 2025 fourth-rounder and Daniel Jones to the Denver Broncos to select Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy with the No. 12 overall pick. Wow:

The NY Giants could select a WR1 and new QB in the first round of the NFL Draft

Rather than trading up to land a more highly-touted quarterback prospect like Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels, NY lands a coveted wide receiver and a new franchise player under center in this mock draft without sending away significant draft capital. It is one of the more extreme draft scenarios for the Giants.

Nabers, a 6-1 wideout, caught 89 balls for 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns for LSU in the 2023 season. He and Rome Odunze — another player the Giants are rumored to be interested in — are the consensus No. 2 and 3 wide receivers in the draft behind Marvin Harrison Jr.

McCarthy's draft stock has soared over the past month, but many analysts consider him a wild card due to the run-heavy system he played in under Jim Harbaugh at Michigan. He threw for 2,991 yards, 22 touchdowns, and four interceptions in 2023, leading Michigan to a National Championship victory.

Broncos fans might not be too fond of this hypothetical draft day deal, as they recently moved on from one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league in Russell Wilson. However, Giants supporters would likely welcome Nabers and McCarthy with open arms if something similar to this trade transpired next month.
