3. RB Matt Breida

Matt Breida had a very strong season backing up Saquon Barkley in 2022, which prompted Joe Schoen to bring the veteran back in 2023. Breida performed well in the absence of Barkley this season, and maybe the Giants could get a late-round pick or a late-round pick swap from a contender in need of a complementary back.

In what seems like a lost season, it makes little sense for Big Blue to give carries to a 28-year-old veteran who likely won't be on the team in 2024. It would make much more sense for the Giants to give Breida's carries to Eric Gray or Gary Brightwell (when healthy), two young backs who could be in the Giants plans, especially Gray.

New York claimed running back Jashuan Corbin, who spent last season on the Giants practice squad and was cut by the team this summer, off the Carolina Panthers practice squad last week. Corbin is a dynamic back who could have a future in New York and provide similar, if not better, production than Breida.
