Predicting every national TV game for the NY Giants this season
By Zak Musso
2. Giants at Bills for Thursday Night Football
This game might have more storylines than any other game in football next fall. Jones will play against the guy many compare him to, Josh Allen. Daboll will return to Buffalo where he was offensive coordinator for four years and molded Allen into a superstar. Daboll will also face off against his mentor, Sean McDermott.
Schoen returns to Buffalo after serving as the Bills assistant general manager for five seasons, and will watch his team square off against his mentor, Brandon Beane. The Giants are built in the mirror image of Buffalo. Both teams have a versatile defense, a ton of speed, and a big, mobile quarterback. Beane even told Pat McAfee he tried to trade with his "old buddy" (Joe Schoen) on draft night.
Both teams made the playoffs in 2022 but lost in the Divisional Round. There is also geographic pride on the line. New York is comprised of a lot of Giants fans, but also a ton of Buffalo fans. The Bills are always claiming that they are New York's only team (which technically is correct).
Don't forget about Super Bowl XXV. The Giants won that Super Bowl thanks to Scott Norwood's missed field goal as time expired. That Super Bowl loss started one of the most brutal streaks in sports history: Buffalo losing four consecutive Super Bowls. This will be a fun game, and the NFL loves to schedule playoff teams from previous seasons in major TV slots. How about a Thursday Night Football meeting for this clash?
