2. OT Connor Galvin

The Giants may have one of the best offensive tackle duos in the league with Andrew Thomas and Evan Neal ahead of their Week 1 matchup with the Dallas Cowboys. Still, they can continuously improve their depth at the position.

Big Blue fans expected the team to keep four tackles after Tuesday's NFL roster cut deadline and were surprised with Schoen's decision to keep Matt Peart, who struggled in a recent preseason matchup against the Jets, over Tyre Phillips. The team also decided to keep second-year player Marcus McKethan, who missed his rookie campaign with a torn ACL. So, with the uncertainty of the Giants' backups at tackle, they could pursue recently-cut players.

One name that Schoen and the G-Men could pursue is Connor Galvin, who the Detroit Lions recently released. He has been playing confidently throughout training camp and was considered the highest-rated offensive lineman by Pro Football Focus. While Galvin would not earn starting duties for the Giants at tackle, he does make sense for the team to look further into.

Galvin signed with the Lions as an undrafted free agent out of Baylor. Last season, the sixth-year senior started all 13 games at left tackle and earned first-team All-Big 12 honors. In 2021, Galvin was named the Big 12's Offensive Lineman of the Year.

Let's just say that if the Giants give Galvin an opportunity and he can succeed in East Rutherford over time, they may have found a hidden gem that nobody is talking about. Galvin did sign with the Lions practice squad, and although the Giants didn't claim him, they could sign him to the 53-man roster if Schoen changes his mind and thinks he'd be a good fit. From our chair, this would be an upgrade over the backup OTs in town.
