As disappointed as everyone was during the NY Giants 31-16 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, it was deflating to see quarterback Daniel Jones goes down with a neck injury. Jones had to be helped off the field after he was obliterated on a sack.
As it turns out, a random dude decided to troll Jones while he was injured. Yeah, Saquon Barkley isn't going to just stand there and stay silent when something like that happens. On Sunday night, a clip of Barkley tossing an NSFW insult toward a fan went viral, with No. 26 explaining that he was defending his quarterback:
Saquon Barkley tears into a fan for attacking a hurt Daniel Jones in Miami
This is the most someone has done to protect Jones since the season started. One of the biggest storylines from the campaign has been the embarrassing play from the offensive line, which was once again on full display in Week 5.
Jones didn't have any time to scan the field and he was constantly pressured. On the play he suffered his neck injury, linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel blew past left tackle Joshua Ezeudu for a sack. Ezeudu was benched right after that play, with Matt Peart taking his spot.
In Saquon's social media post, he was quick to explain that this isn't him trying to go up against Giants fans. Instead, he felt the need to say something after someone had the audacity to try and bring down Jones when he was hurt. That's not a good look for someone in the stands at all.
Earlier in the week, right tackle Evan Neal made countless headlines for ripping Big Blue supporters for calling out his play. Barkley advised him to never go against the Big Blue faithful. Barkley, out since Week 2 with a high-ankle sprain, knows what the fanbase means for this team. At the same time, don't expect him to just sit back and do nothing if you decide to disrespect one of his teammates, especially a close friend of his in Jones.
