When Saquon Barkley left the New York Giants back in March for the Philadelphia Eagles on a three-year contract, Giants fans everywhere were stunned. Barkley was NY's first-round pick in 2018 and made an instant impact for the Giants throughout his six seasons in New York. He rushed for over 1,000 yards in three of his six campaigns and has been to the Pro Bowl twice, so his exit from the Giants to a divisional rival is something that will sting for a while.

Barkley is joining an already stacked Eagles team on offense with playmakers like wideouts AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith, tight end Dallas Goedert and of course, quarterback Jalen Hurts. So, it may not be much of a surprise if Philly turns out to be a thorn in the Giants side when Big Blue takes on the Eagles in the regular season.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler checked in with sources around the league and the general feeling on the RB is that he could have a Christian McCaffrey-type of impact for the Birds. Yeah, this is something no one in East Rutherford is going to want to see.

Saquon Barkley is expected to have a monster year for the Eagles

"The feeling around the league talking to several teams is that Saquon Barkley will make a major impact, maybe even like a Christian McCaffrey-to-49ers type impact because he's never had this sort of supporting cast, this kind of offensive line. He's going to make (Jalen) Hurts' job a lot easier."

That is quite the prediction about what Barkley may be able to do for the Eagles this year. When McCaffrey was traded to the San Francisco 49ers back in 2022, he made an immediate impact on the 49ers offense and put up career-high numbers in rushing yards. If Barkley ends up making a monster impact for Philly, which is expected, it's going to drive people in New York and New Jersey mad.

It will be very interesting to see how much of an impact Barkley will make on this Eagles team that has had the Giants number over the years. However, with Philly's strong offensive line and a good coaching staff, will it be a surprise if Barkley puts up elite numbers throughout his tenure as an Eagle? Not at all, but we just don't want to see it happen.
