This offseason, the trade rumors surrounding Stefon Diggs simply haven't stopped. While the Buffalo Bills don't seem likely to send him elsewhere, as the dead cap hit would be through the roof, not everyone is ready to throw in the towel just yet.
Just ask NY Giants outside linebacker Jihad Ward about that. Ward will be back in East Rutherford next season on a one-year deal. While he's fired up over the key additions general Joe Schoen has brought in, that doesn't mean he doesn't want Diggs to join him in the locker room. His latest tweet has him calling for Saquon Barkley to put in work to make it happen.
Giants LB Jihad Ward wants Joe Schoen to trade for Stefon Diggs
Ward isn't alone in wanting Diggs to suit up for the Giants and head man Brian Daboll, which would be quite the reunion for the two. Don't forget that Daboll was Diggs' offensive coordinator previously when the two were with the Bills.
Hey, the Giants are in need of a WR1 to help lead the offense. With Odell Beckham Jr. signing with the Ravens, that dream is dead. However, Ward and others are still focused on Diggs potentially making plays for Danny Dimes.
It really does feel like a miracle would be needed for Diggs to play for Big Blue next season. Buffalo would want a plethora of draft picks, including a first-rounder. Diggs is one of the best wideouts in the game. At the end of the day, Buffalo isn't going to want to trade him, and NY could end up just grabbing a young pass-catcher in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
All the Diggs speculation has been fun this offseason, but we don't expect much to come from all of this. If something does, then we could have Ward and Barkley to thank.
