With the 2024 NFL season here, the NY Giants officially wrapped up training camp and finalized their 53-man roster. While Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen ensured that the team is at its best when they host the Minnesota Vikings, many tough decisions were made behind closed doors to trim the roster. The players who did not make the Giants' 53-man roster were either signed to New York's practice squad or will be headed elsewhere.

The G-Men left a couple of notable names off their roster, but ensured that many players left off did not go too far by signing them to their practice squad. The Giants' practice squad consists of 15 players - they all were with Big Blue during training camp except for linebacker Ty Summers, who the Lions cut. As injuries occur throughout the season, the G-Men will have the opportunity to bring up these players from their practice squad. That said, let's look at three practice squad players who will see the field in 2024:

3. OL Jimmy Morrissey

If there's anything the Giants learned from last year, it's that you can never have enough offensive line depth. The G-Men prioritized improving their o-line this offseason with the additions of Jermaine Eluemenor, Jon Runyan Jr, and Greg Van Roten. While the offensive line should be much better this season than last year, the Giants need to ensure they have enough depth behind their starters due to injuries.

The center position is one area of concern for the Giants on the offensive line. While the Giants have the starting center role locked down with 2023 second-round pick John Michael Schmitz, injuries have become a concern for the 25-year-old OL. JMS suffered an injury last year where he missed four games and suffered an ankle injury in the preseason finale against the Jets.

While it appears JMS avoided a severe injury and will be good to go against the Vikings, the Giants already lost backup center Austin Schlottman, who was placed on the injured reserve list with a broken fibula. With Schlottman's injury, Van Roten would slide into the backup role, and Aaron Stinnie would take over for him at right guard.

Another option for the Giants at center could be Jimmy Morrissey, who landed on the practice squad after losing the backup job to Schlottman. The 26-year-old lineman enters his third season in the league after spending time with the Las Vegas Raiders and Houston Texans.

Morrissey was a walk-on at Pittsburgh and worked his way to getting drafted by the Raiders in the seventh round in 2021. As a redshirt senior, Morrissey was named second-team All-ACC and was awarded the Burlsworth Trophy, given to the best player in Division I football who began his college career as a walk-on.
