2. RB Dante 'Turbo' Miller

The Giants running backs room has been interesting to follow this offseason. With Saquon Barkley leaving the team in free agency for the NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles, someone else is going to have to step up. While Devin Singletary will be the RB1 throughout the season and start against the Vikings, the backup position was an exciting battle throughout training camp this summer.

The Giants had second-year RB Eric Gray and rookies Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Dante 'Turbo' Miller battling for opportunities, but the team decided to keep three RBs on the 53-man roster. Unfortunately, Turbo did not make the team and is the odd man out, but the rookie signed to the Giants practice squad and still has the opportunity to see the field in 2024.

During Miller's collegiate career at Columbia, he had 1,281 yards on 258 carries with six touchdowns, including a career-long run of 83 yards, the sixth-longest rush in school history. In 2021, Turbo earned First Team All-Ivy League honors and was named team MVP; however, after the season, he wanted to continue to play at the college level and would have to transfer due to Ivy League rules.

Turbo transferred to South Carolina, where he entered as a preferred walk-on, but ended up seeing the field in each of the Gamecocks' first six games. He stopped playing to appeal for an additional year of eligibility, but because of miscommunication at South Carolina, Miller stopped playing and pursued the NFL.

Each of the Giants' young backup running backs appeared in the team's first preseason game against the Detroit Lions. Gray was impressive with two touchdowns, and Tracy and Miller provided some explosiveness. Unfortunately, Turbo suffered a hamstring injury in that first game. While Miller only missed time during practice, he would get another chance against the Jets' run defense, but did not have the same impact as in the first game against the Lions.
