You've probably seen by now, but just about everyone is racing to call the NY Giants quarterbacks room the worst in the NFL with the preseason wrapped up. Things didn't go according to plan for the offense in the three games with the aerial attack. Yup, the hype isn't too high for the passing game with the Vikings coming up next.
Unfortunately for the G-Men, the preseason came and went without a single touchdown pass being recorded. How is this even possible? In the win over Detroit, Eric Gray rushed for the two scores. Then in the loss to Houston, Devin Singletary scored the only TD. Then vs. the Jets, there were no TDs put on the board. Not ideal.
The Giants offense needs to wake up in the season-opener vs. Minnesota
Brian Daboll's offense finished with 30 points across the three summer contests, which also isn't great. The big topic of conversation here is the play of Daniel Jones, as he only played in one half, but he didn't do much to instill a ton of confidence in his game leading up to the new campaign.
Jones almost tossed a touchdown vs. Houston, as a 44-yard completion to Darius Slayton was unreal, but the veteran wideout was brought down at the one-yard line - Singletary was able to punch it in for a TD shortly after.
Danny Dimes finished that game vs. Houston with two interceptions, including the one to Jalen Pitre which was taken back to the house. So, between all three contests, Jones, Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito weren't able to toss for even one TD combined?
A quick look on social media shows countless people taking their shots at the Giants, but hey, this is the preseason after all. Last summer, the Giants sold people dreams with the sole drive for the starters vs. the Panthers, but they then finished 6-11.
Come Week 1, everything that happened in August won't matter and the offense will have a fresh start. Will they end up showcasing head-turning chemistry and end up putting a ton of points on the board? Goodness, it'd be great if that ends up happening.
