Top 5 free agency and NFL Draft needs for the Giants, ranked
2. Offensive line
The 2023 Giants offensive line was a mess from the jump. All-Pro left tackle Andrew Thomas went down with an injury on opening night and everything fell apart for the front five. It got so bad, they had to pull Justin Pugh off his couch to come play and he became one of the more consistent guys in that unit. Cool story, but not anywhere near good enough.
Then there was the Evan Neal saga. He called out fans for booing him and followed it up by continuing to play terribly. Not great! The Giants are in desperate need to fix this offensive line and need to do it as soon as possible. They need to start these offensive line upgrades with right tackle. The draft is filled with offensive linemen, tackles in particular.
They need someone opposite Thomas to protect whoever is under center so the position isn't sacked 85 times again. Neal can't be at right tackle if this team wants to be taken seriously in 2024. He isn't quick enough to handle the faster pass-rushers out there and it shows every single week. He does have the size and athleticism to be a solid guard. He needs to be moved to the inside.
