As you've probably seen by now, the Kansas City Chiefs came to their senses and realized it was time to part ways with Kadarius Toney. The former first-round pick of the NY Giants was a fringe roster guy throughout the summer, but on cutdown day, Andy Reid and Co. decided it would be best to move on from the youngster.

When the Chiefs first acquired Toney from the G-Men, their locker room was fired up. All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce was over the moon. At the same time, while speaking on his podcast with his brother Jason, he adamantly said that he couldn't believe or understand why the Giants would send him out of town. Well, what about now, Mr. Kelce?

The Chiefs releasing Kadarius Toney was a no-brainer for them

"I don’t know how he got out of that building, I just don’t get it. I don’t get it one bit. I don’t understand – like I don’t even want to understand. I don’t even want to know what happened over there. I am just extremely happy that Brett Veach found a way to yet again get an unbelievably talented player in this building."

Kansas City took a risk on Toney and things didn't work out for them long term. We should note that Toney did help them win the Super Bowl during his first season with the team, as he posted the longest punt return in SB history. While he wasn't on the field last winter vs. the 49ers, Toney was still given a Super Bowl ring - he earned two with the Chiefs.

While those rings are awesome, perhaps Kelce can finally see why the Giants decided to give up on trying to groom him into being a stud wideout for Daniel Jones. Toney has consistently battled injury problems early on in his career and the off-the-field drama has never been worth it. A new team might look to give him another chance this fall, but KC decided to pull the plug on things - we don't blame them for that and neither should Kelce.
