With the NY Giants working away in their offseason program, there are obviously a ton of eyes on No. 6 overall pick Malik Nabers. Is this kid going to be the wide receiver savior for this team, the one fans have been begging for since Odell Beckham Jr. left town?
That of course remains to be seen, but there are countless people in his corner who think he can become a stud for Brian Daboll and the G-Men. Just ask Giants great Victor Cruz about that. Recently, the Giants Super Bowl winner caught up with beat reporter Art Stapleton to discuss the young WR. Cruz is a big-time believer in his game.
Victor Cruz thinks Malik Nabers has all the tools to be a superstar for the Giants
"I walked into a restaurant in Summit, New Jersey, the other day and a couple guys in the back corner, they start yelling, ‘Cruuuz.’ That’s going to be with me forever. It’s all that comes with playing in this town, playing at a high level and helping bring home that Lombardi. That sets players apart, brings a different aura to guys who have won that championship. That’s what is out there for Malik Nabers to achieve as a Giant. It’s all there to make his own legacy and be the next great one. I think he has all the tools, man, to be great."Victor Cruz
That quote from Cruz via Stapleton is going to have a lot of Giants fans even more excited for the fall to get here. Nabers was arguably the best wideout in the NFL Draft, with people going back and forth between him and Ohio State's Marvin Harrison Jr.
When the Giants were on the clock at No. 6 and Nabers was still available, there was some worry that perhaps Joe Schoen would reach for Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy instead. Thankfully, that didn't happen and Nabers is already turning heads in East Rutherford at OTAs.
The expectations are through the roof for the youngster, which almost makes you feel bad for him. However, Nabers plays the game with a ton of confidence and he fully believes he can be a tremendous playmaker for the Giants in '24 and beyond. If you ask Cruz, he thinks that will end up being the case too.
