Week 3 of the NFL season is already here and there's a fantastic matchup to get things going. On Thursday night in Santa Clara, the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers are ready to go to battle at Levi's Stadium.
San Francisco is a perfect 2-0 to start the year, while the Giants are 1-1 after their thrilling come-from-behind win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Now, the Giants are going to need to make some magic happen without star running back Saquon Barkley, although head man Brian Daboll isn't ready to rule him out for this contest just yet:
The Giants and 49ers are ready for a Thursday Night Football matchup
While Daboll has left the door open for Barkley to play, the expectation is that he'll have to sit this one out. With No. 26 sidelined, backup running back Matt Breida should get the bulk of the carries for the G-Men in this one.
As for the 49ers, they don't have any worries in the running backs room, as Christian McCaffrey continues to be one of the best in the game. CMC is coming off another strong showing, as he rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown in the Week 2 win over the LA Rams.
The Giants front seven will have its hands full trying to slow down the superstar RB. On paper, the 49ers are heavy favorites to come away with a win, but the Giants will be ready to put up a fight. Will an upset for the NFC East side be on the way? We'll find out soon enough.
