With the news of Daniel Jones being out for the season with a torn ACL, the morale for the NY Giants isn't just low, it's six feet under. Leave it to safety Xavier McKinney to now cause some friction inside of the locker room as well.
Following the 30-6 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 9, McKinney was quite upset with how the team played. Not only that, though, but he decided to call out the coaching staff, claiming that leaders on the team aren't being heard. This felt like it came out of nowhere from him:
Xavier McKinney calling out the NY Giants coaches is a major problem
"Honestly, it sucks. But, I don't know, man. I don't really have many words. I think that from a leadership standpoint, I don't think they've done a great job of letting the leaders lead, and listening to the leaders and the captains, but obviously it sucks losing."Xavier McKinney via Jordan Raanan
McKinney is one of 10 team captains for the Giants, which only makes his latest comments even more eye-opening. You can tell just how frustrated McKinney has become with the play of the G-Men, as they're now 2-7 following Sunday's result against Las Vegas. This was a game people thought they could come out on top of, but they weren't even close.
After three straight fantastic showings from the defense against the Bills, Commanders and Jets, McKinney and Co. had a game to forget against the Raiders, giving up 30 points and letting quarterback Aidan O'Connell make some big-time throws. How did that even happen?
This was also against an organization that just fired their head coach in Josh McDaniels, plus their general manager and offensive coordinator. The Giants went from a postseason team in 2022 to a squad looking like they'll have a Top 5 pick next April. McKinney is downright livid with how the season has gone, but bashing the staff/front office was a monster mistake.
