The New York Giants are eyeing the 2025 NFL Draft as their best shot to finally secure a franchise quarterback, but their path to landing Shedeur Sanders (or Cam Ward) just got a bit clearer. A recent bombshell from Tennessee Titans President of Football Operations Chad Brinker has the NFL world buzzing—and Giants fans quietly hopeful.

“If there is a generational talent [available at No. 1 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft], you don’t pass that up,” Brinker said during a press conference introducing the Titans’ new general manager, Mike Borgonzi. “If it is a player that tips the field in your favor every time they step on the field, you cannot pass that up.”

For weeks, speculation has swirled about who the Titans might target with the top pick. Many assumed they’d opt for one of the draft’s top quarterbacks—Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward—but Brinker’s comments have reignited talk of Colorado’s Travis Hunter, a two-way phenom widely regarded as the only true “generational talent” in this draft class.

For the Giants, this could be the domino that falls in their favor.

Tennessee Titans may have left the door wide open for the Giants to draft Shedeur Sanders

Hunter’s resume speaks for itself: a Heisman Trophy winner who excelled as both a cornerback and wide receiver in 2024. His dynamic skill set has scouts drooling, and his ability to impact games on both sides of the ball makes him a once-in-a-generation prospect. If the Titans decide Hunter is their guy, that leaves Cleveland at No. 2—likely to take Cam Ward or Abdul Carter.

Enter the Giants, picking at No. 3. With Hunter off the board and Deion Sanders all but ruling out the Browns as a destination for his son, Shedeur Sanders could fall right into Big Blue’s lap. For a team coming off a dismal 3-14 season and desperate for stability under center, this is a dream scenario.

This isn’t just good news for the Giants—it’s a potential franchise-altering moment. Sanders, the highly touted quarterback from Colorado, has the accuracy, poise, and leadership to be a day-one starter in New York. Pair that with his father’s preference for him to land anywhere but Cleveland, and the Giants could be holding the golden ticket come draft night.

Of course, the Titans’ intentions remain a mystery. Brinker’s comments could be a smokescreen designed to drum up trade interest or keep other teams guessing. But if Tennessee truly believes Hunter is their guy, the Giants might get their quarterback of the future without needing to sweat out draft night.

The key now for Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll is staying ready for any curveballs. If the Titans and Browns throw the draft into chaos, the Giants must remain steadfast in their pursuit of Sanders. After years of QB instability, Big Blue is on the cusp of finally solving its most glaring issue.

For the first time in a long time, the stars might just align for the Giants. Now, all eyes turn to the Titans to see if they’ll make a move that could tip the entire draft—and the Giants’ future—in New York’s favor.
