If the New York Giants are going to surpass expectations during the 2025 season, they’ll need their offense to take a big step forward. They’ve added a lot of talent to that side of the ball this offseason, and the franchise is hopeful that they can finally break through. But for them to be a real contender, they’ll need one of their brightest stars to shine even more. And that player is none other than Malik Nabers.
There have only been eight wide receivers in NFL history to record 1,200 receiving yards during their rookie season, according to Pro Football Reference. And oddly enough, it happened twice during the 2024 season with a pair of former LSU teammates: Brian Thomas Jr. (1,282) and Nabers (1,204).
But unlike the rest of the names on the list, Thomas and Nabers didn’t have established quarterbacks. Thomas played with Trevor Lawrence and Mac Jones, while Nabers played with three well-below-average passers.
The quarterback situation for Nabers entering Year 2 is still unresolved, but it has improved significantly. Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, and Jaxson Dart should provide a much higher ceiling and floor for Nabers, especially if one of the two veterans manages to take a majority of the snaps.
So what could happen for Nabers in Year 2 if he finally gets competent quarterback play?
Malik Nabers is set up to have the best season of his NFL career in 2025
Well, considering how productive he was last season, the sky is the limit.
Is it realistic to think that he could lead the NFL in receiving yards during his sophomore season? Tommy Jaggi and Marcus Mosher discussed that and other NFL futures bets on their latest No Huddle podcast on the Stacking The Box YouTube channel:
There are only a handful of receivers who are talented enough to lead the league in receiving yards, and Nabers certainly qualifies. He is also an attractive candidate for Offensive Player of the Year, assuming he can stay healthy and receive competent quarterback play.
We’ve only seen Nabers scratch the surface of the player that he can be in the NFL, and we should expect to see him take a massive leap in Year 2. Expect to see the LSU legend have a monster season with the Giants in 2025.
