These 4 Giants players won't make it past December (and everyone knows it)

It's time to move on.

2025 has truly been a nightmare season for the New York Giants.

Despite having a strong draft class and adding key defensive players through free agency, New York is in the midst of another dreadful year, having dropped their last six to fall to 2-10. At this point, Big Blue has nothing to play for in its five games of the season other than pride, which they have actually been managing to do against playoff-caliber teams.

The only problem is, they have not been able to close out games all year long against those really good teams, as they have blown double-digit leads a whopping six times.

With this season continuing to go from bad to worse for the Giants, it would not be much of a surprise if these players don’t last through December.

These 4 players might not make it past December for the G-MEN

Russell Wilson

I get it. Russell Wilson has made it clear that he wants to stay with the Giants to provide veteran leadership for Jaxson Dart and the rest of the young players on the team, as well as cheering on his guys from the sideline. But with Wilson being on just a one-year deal and the team sitting at 2-10, I think it’s time to move on.

Aside from the dismal record, the 36-year-old has also not looked impressive in his limited starts with the Giants, prompting fans to boo the former Super Bowl-winning quarterback practically out of the starting job quicker than perhaps many expected. It might be too late in the season to make such a move. However, after interim head coach Mike Kafka opted to start Jameis Winston over Wilson with Jaxson Dart still in concussion protocol, it really doesn’t make much sense why Wilson is still here, especially with Dart expected to return next week.

Deonte Banks

This was perhaps one of the worst draft picks and draft classes altogether for the Joe Schoen regime. The Giants drafted cornerback Deonte Banks 25th overall during the 2023 draft, and calling Banks a bust would be an understatement... he’s been a disaster.

Banks didn’t begin this season as a starter for the Giants following the signing of Paulson Adebo. But with Adebo missing the last five games due to injury, it has opened the door for Banks to prove he was worth a first-round selection. The 24-year-old, however, has had a horrible third season in the NFL and despite being active on Sunday against the Detroit Lions, he did not play a single snap. Enough is enough, Banks needs to go.

Jalin Hyatt

Speaking of that disastrous 2023 draft class, Jalin Hyatt is another player from that group who’s been a failure for the G-Men. The wideout, who was drafted in the third round back in 2023, has just five catches on the season for 35 yards. And after being held without a catch against the Lions, Hyatt has had eight games this season when he’s either not been active or held without a catch.

Despite showing flashes during his rookie season, Hyatt has been held to just 13 catches combined over the last two years and is still searching for that elusive first NFL touchdown. It is certainly puzzling why the Giants opted to hold onto Hyatt through the end of training camp and not trade him at the deadline. Still, his tenure in New York, one way or another, is over.

Evan Neal

If you thought the first round selection of offensive tackle Ereck Flowers was a bust, enter Evan Neal into the conversation. Neal was one of two first-round draft selections the Giants had in 2022, as the guard was selected seventh overall. Neal’s tenure in the NFL with the Giants has since been horrendous, and he now needs to be let go.

Neal’s tenure with Big Blue has been marked by an injury in 2022 and a public feud with Giants fans who criticized him for a lack of effort. And after not starting a single game this season for New York, being placed on injured reserve on November 15 with a hamstring, there is nothing more we can say other than it’s been real, Evan Neal.
