The Odell Beckham Jr. era has come to an end for the New York Giants. No, this is not the year 2019 but it does sort of feel like deja vu a little, doesn't it? OBJ had reunited with the Giants this summer, but, after three games with little to no action, the plug was pulled and he's now a free agent once again.
Beckham finished his short-lived reunion with just one target and zero catches. The Giants signed him over the summer due to the injuries they had at the position and it was a brief little happy moment that the two sides had reconciled.
Sadly, Beckham was rarely on the field and had to fight like hell to even make the roster in the first place. For a guy that was once the dude for the Giants, it's been strange watching him decline in real time.
OBJ was once a first-round pick by the Giants and had one of the most jaw-dropping catches you'll ever see. Drama escalated in the coming years, however, and he was shipped off to Cleveland in 2019. The drama continued for him there, which then sent him to the Rams where he won a Super Bowl (and likely would have won Super Bowl MVP had he stayed healthy and finished out that game).
After missing all of the 2022 season due to that torn ACL he suffered in Super Bowl 56, OBJ spent the 2023 campaign with the Ravens. That was the last time he looked like a wide receiver capable of truly contributing though. Father Time is undefeated after all.
Odell Beckham Jr.'s career feels like it should be over but will it be?
Beckham has dealt with a slew of injuries during his career, which has certainly slowed him down on the gridiron in recent years. The Giants were his third team in as many seasons and in those three seasons, he caught just 44 passes for 620 yards and three scores. The majority of that production came when he was in Baltimore in 2023. He barely did anything for the Dolphins in 2024, didn't play in 2025, and we already touched on what he did (or rather didn't do) in New York.
All of this to say that it sure feels like OBJ has reached the end of his NFL career. He's almost 34 years old, has been injured on and off for years, and if he couldn't break into the Giants' lineup, it's doubtful he has much left in the tank that can dazzle other teams.
While his lack of production should tell everyone what they need to know about Beckham at this stage of his career, it does feel as if someone will give him another chance. Maybe that's the Raiders or the Texans, both of whom could use help at wide receiver, or maybe it's another surprise team. Either way, Giants fans probably won't find themselves all that shocked if OBJ lands with another squad.
