At this point, nobody knows who the New York Giants’ starting quarterback will be in 2025. General manager Joe Schoen is still waiting on Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson is playing the field, and the No. 3 pick in the draft is still weeks away from being made. It’s nothing short of a nightmare.
But while the front office scrambles to find an answer, Tommy DeVito is doing exactly what he should be doing—putting in the work. DeVito is back on a one-year deal, by signing his exclusive rights free agent tender for $1.03 million.
The Giants’ only quarterback under contract isn’t sitting around waiting for his fate to be decided. Instead, he’s already back to training, linking up with some of the league’s top talent at Alkeme Performance in Florida.

Oh boy. The Giants don’t know who their next QB1 is, but their current QB3 is out there grinding with Stefon Diggs, Rashee Rice, and Geno Smith. Whether it leads to a bigger role in 2025 remains to be seen, but DeVito is making sure he’s ready for whatever comes next.
Tommy DeVito isn’t wasting his shot
Say what you want about DeVito’s long-term outlook, but the guy knows how to take advantage of an opportunity.
Two years ago, he went from undrafted free agent out of Illinois to cult hero, Tommy Cutlets, after a surprising stretch as the Giants’ starter. He embraced the moment, turned his family into local celebrities, and made the most of his shot.
Now, he’s doing the same thing this offseason. By working out with big-name NFL players, DeVito is keeping himself in the mix and proving he’s serious about his future. With the Giants hoping to sign a veteran and draft a quarterback, DeVito knows his role will likely be as a backup, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to just accept that.
Judging by the way things are going so far for the G-Men, it's a smart move on his part to get in the work early and often. Who knows how the rest of the offseason will play out.
If nothing else, this training session is a reminder that he could still be in the conversation. If the Giants’ quarterback situation continues going the way it is, don’t be surprised if DeVito sticks around longer than expected. There's a very real chance he sees playing time next year. And hey, if he’s secretly recruiting Diggs while he’s at it? Even better.
