To some, the middle of October means pumpkin spice lattes and Halloween costumes. To NFL fans, it's trade season.

The trade deadline is just weeks away, and the New York Giants are in a peculiar situation. They're currently leading the NFC East, indicating that they could be buyers at the deadline, but long-term injuries to star players paint a murkier picture of the remainder of the season.

Big Blue will likely fall somewhere in the middle of "buyer" and "seller." They should be making offers for players who could help them win the division title while staying open to sending away a few players for draft capital.

New York doesn't have many premier trade chips, but these three could be worth shopping.

Giants have no choice but to trade Kayvon Thibodeaux

Projected trade value: 2027 third-round pick

Kayvon Thibodeaux simply hasn't done enough to earn a long-term contract extension from the Giants. Even in an increased role since Brian Burns' injury, he is barely getting after the quarterback and has been mediocre in run defense.

The Giants aren't fetching a second-round pick for Thibodeaux anymore, but a team with championship aspirations might be willing to part with a third-rounder to help their pass rush. His first-round pedigree will still carry some weight.

Landing spots: Chicago Bears, New England Patriots

Jameis Winston could be on the move after Giants bench him for J.J. McCarthy

Projected trade value: 2027 seventh-round pick

The "Jameis Winston Experience" is over in New York. J.J. McCarthy is now the starting quarterback, for better or for worse. Now that he's been relegated to holding clipboards, could Winston become a trade asset?

His contract still goes through the 2028 season, making him a more appetizing target for a team in need of a short-term solution or a long-term backup. Assuming the Giants believe in McCarthy as Jaxson Dart's backup moving forward, they could comfortably move on from Winston.

The only team with playoff aspirations that could use a starting quarterback at the moment is the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Giants aren't trading Winston within the division. But a team like the Baltimore Ravens could look to upgrade their backup QB spot.

Landing spots: Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins

Giants could trade Cam Skattebo amid fumbling issues

Projected trade value: 2027 fourth-round pick

Cam Skattebo saw zero carries in Week 6 after struggling to protect the football earlier in the season. John Harbaugh doesn't seem to trust him, but it's unclear if his benching was a punishment or if he is no longer in the team's plans moving forward. Skattebo can still take on a decent workload and could fill in for a team in need of a starting back.

If the Giants are serious about moving on from Skattebo and potentially adding another running back, they should try to get something for him before the deadline. His value is only going to drop as his days as a starter become more distant.

Landing spots: New Orleans Saints, Seattle Seahawks
