Troy Aikman put Giants on blast after Saquon Barkley's historic performance
The New York Giants weren't even playing on Monday Night Football but that didn't stop them from catching a stray from ESPN commentator Troy Aikman. This week's Monday night game brought us a battle of the Harbaugh brothers as the Ravens and Chargers took the field at SoFi Stadium with Aikman and his broadcast partner Joe Buck in the booth.
Twenty-four hours before this epic Monday night battle took place, former Giants running back Saquon Barkley ran roughshod over the Los Angeles Rams on the same field. Barkley rushed for 255 yards in the Eagles blowout win and left Giants fans feeling sick.
Aikman made sure to rub salt in the wound while on the air. He noted that the Giants GM had to be gutted about watching Barkley go off for 255 yards in the latest game and wondering what could have been.
"John Mara, if he had a little heartburn when Saquon Barkley left and signed with the Eagles you can only imagine the heartburn he has watching him do what he's done."
More NY Giants news:
Aikman didn't stop there, however. He brought up the clip from when the Giants were on Hard Knocks and Mara had said he wouldn't be able to sleep if the Giants' former first-round pick ended up with division rival Philly.
"John Mara's gotta be so sick of that clip and hearing about 'I’m not gonna be able to sleep if he goes to Philly.' Well, he's in Philly and he looks like one of the best RBs ever to visit this planet."
Oh, and to top it all off, Aikman threw shade at Daniel Jones, who isn't even with the Giants anymore, pointing out that the G-Men opted to keep him over Barkley. "And they decided to keep Daniel Jones and now they don’t have either."
Troy Aikman blasts Giants on Monday Night Football... and they weren't even playing
Giants fans have heard it all by this point and until things get better, this is going to be the norm for them. They're going to keep catching strays on letting Barkley leave for a division rival and be an MVP candidate. They're going to have to keep listening to people criticize them for picking Danny Dimes over Barkley.
Until the Giants prove they're a competent franchise, they'd better get used to being the butt of the jokes. With just two wins under their belts this season and all of the mistakes they've made in recent years, they deserve to be put on blast.
