The New York Giants have graduated from being merely a bad team. They are firmly in laughingstock territory, as they are the worst team in the NFC without question and (possibly) the worst team in the NFL. Their loss against the Atlanta Falcons only confirmed their ineptitude.

Despite playing a rookie quarterback in Michael Penix Jr. making his first career start, a pair of pick-sixes from Drew Lock and an overall uninspired effort sunk this team to 2-13 on the season. This may end up being the last such year for Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen after such a promising start to their tenure.

The one benefit of being this bad is earning the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Perhaps because the Las Vegas Raiders were getting in the Christmas spirit, they ended up taking down the Jacksonville Jaguars in a truly nasty tank-off. The Raiders' win put the Giants in a position to earn the No. 1 overall selection.

1. New York Giants (2-13)
2. New England Patriots (3-12)
3. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-12)
4. Tennessee Titans (3-12)
5. Cleveland Browns (3-12)
6. Las Vegas Raiders (3-12)
7. Carolina Panthers (4-11)
8. New York Jets (4-11)
9. Chicago Bears (4-11)
10. New Orleans Saints (5-9)

The Las Vegas Raiders may have given the Giants the biggest Christmas present they could have ever asked for. Their win dropped them all the way down to sixth in the 2025 NFL Draft order. The Giants' top competition for one of the best quarterbacks in the Draft has officially faded away.

The Giants can now turn their attention squarely to either Miami's Cam Ward or Colorado's Shedeur Sanders, both of whom look like franchise quarterbacks. Be it Ward's rocket arm or Sanders' deadeye accuracy in the pocket, there are reasons to like both of these quarterbacks.

The Giants will be able to give their rookie a standout receiver in Malik Nabers, an offensive line that is much better than past years when Andrew Thomas is healthy, and a defense that has some very impactful players spots. This is far from a desolate wreck.

The Giants will finally have the opportunity to pick No. 1 overall for the first time since they selected running back Tucker Frederickson in 1965. He made the Pro Bowl as a rookie, but injuries limited him to six seasons and 2,200 rushing yards. Let's hope this pick turns out better.
