The New York Giants have been busy in the aftermath of their preseason loss to the Minnesota Vikings. In the span of just a couple of days, they released running back Dante Miller and signed quarterback Jake Haener, linebacker Chandler Martin, and running back Najee Harris.

John Harbaugh and Joe Schoen are far from finished. With the influx of signings, the Giants will release a few more players in the coming days.

After a forgettable preseason performance, veteran quarterback Brandon Allen is at the top of the list. He might not make it to the weekend with Big Blue.

Allen is one of the most experienced preseason quarterbacks in the last decade of NFL football. That didn't help him on Saturday, when he threw two interceptions and took a sack in just nine drop backs. Both interceptions were tough to watch, but the underthrown ball down the sideline was particularly brutal.

After that performance, Allen's chances of making the final 53-man roster all but disappeared. When the Giants signed Haener, Allen's fate was confirmed. He'll likely be bumped down to the fourth quarterback spot when Haener gets familiar with the system.

Allen's best shot at staying on the roster for a couple of weeks has nothing to do with his play. If Harbaugh decides to sit Jaxson Dart for the rest of the preseason after his injury scare, the G-Men might keep Allen on the team to take some end-of-game preseason reps. Still, his hopes of making the roster at the end of the preseason are long gone.

The veteran quarterback isn't the only player whose chances have been hurt by the recent signings. An addition to the running back room is bad news for both Eric Gray and Damon Bankston. Gray led the team in carries against the Vikings, but he only produced 20 yards on his eight totes. Bankston, the explosive undrafted rookie, barely worked onto the field.

Cam Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy, Devin Singletary, and Harris are all likely to make the final roster. The Giants aren't going to keep more than four running backs on the active squad, so Gray and Bankston will be looking elsewhere for their next NFL opportunity. Both are strong candidates to land on New York's practice squad.

We're nearing the most cutthroat time of the NFL calendar, and the G-Men just accelerated that timeline with their flurry of preseason acquisitions.
