Sunday’s matchup between division rival New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles might get even more interesting… Osi Umenyiora could get his first start of the 2011 season against the Eagles.

"Coach Tom Coughlin said in a conference call on Tuesday with reporters that defensive end Osi Umenyiora is likely to see his first action of the season in Sunday’s 1 p.m. matchup with the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field."

Although he did individuals yesterday, Coach Tom Coughin also said Osi would be practicing Thursday at full speed barring any setbacks:

"“We certainly hope Osi will be ready to go. We hope to have him on the practice field. (Today is) really not going to be a full-speed practice, so it’ll be Thursday before that takes place. But, hopefully, Thursday Osi will be ready to practice, If there’s not any type of setback, I would expect that.”"

I hope he does play, even if he has some uncomfortableness in his knee. The spotlight is going to be on him after responding to Eagles RB LeSean McCoy’s trash talking earlier this offseason. Frankly, we’ll be waiting to see exactly how “softly” things play out this Sunday.
