The Packers 2014 second round draft choice out of “Carr U”, wide receiver Davante Adams is gradually entering the offensive fold. Route running and spot timing with Aaron Rodgers are still not Adams’ allies, but the Pack can’t afford to let his game altering talent rot on the bench.
After a six-target 50-yard week two versus the Jets battered secondary, Adams was quiet in a week three defeat in Detroit with two receptions for 11 yards. However, perhaps most crucially, Adams played 35 of 54 snaps according to Pro Football Focus, just one fewer than #3 WR incumbent Jarrett Boykin.

Boykin has dependable hands and Rodgers trusts where he’ll be, but the upside just isn’t there with JB. He struggles to separate, meaning his scant targets will usually be tight quarter throws. And when he does come down with the football, Boykin is essentially a catch and fall minimalist at the receiver position — two catches (seven targets) for 11 yards. Additionally, Boykin is listed as questionable, nursing a groin injury he suffered in Thursday’s practice session.
The door should be wide open for Davante Adams in a three-receiver heavy offense against a depleted and short-on-talent Bears secondary. A one week waiver wire plug-and-play could easily turn into a season long hold, and he’s currently being started in only 1% of Yahoo leagues. Adams possesses the athletic arsenal — size, strong frame, vertical speed and dangerous in space — to be a strong fantasy football weapon… with a decent dose of opportunity. He should find it this week.
