2015 NFL Draft: OLB Alvin Dupree, Kentucky

The New York Giants are always looking for quality pass rushers. Alvin Dupree is a great pass rusher that the Giants should consider grabbing in the 2015 NFL Draft. From the Kentucky Wildcats of the SEC, Dupree is a very productive pass rusher. He had 7.5 sacks in the 2014 season. In 2013 he had 6 sacks while in 2012 he had 6.5. Dupree hit his stride in his sophomore season and has consistently gotten the job done since.

Dupree is a monster, and I mean that in the best possible way. He stands tall at 6′ 4″ and weighs 264 pounds. He has the unbelievable combination of size and speed that make NFL scouts very excited. While he is a stand up outside linebacker in the 3-4 the Giants could certainly draft him to be a defensive end in their 4-3 defense. Scheme fits are not a deal breaker with superbly talented players like Dupree.

GMENHQ Big Board Ranking: 26th Overall Prospect

More from NY Giants Draft

Strengths:

  • Explosive burst off the ball
  • Long arms, this helps him get inside the offensive tackle and steer him out of the way
  • High motor
  • Plays fast without hesitation
  • Keeps feet driving throughout the entire play
  • Hammer like hitter

Concerns:

  • Dupree is not a great run defender which would be a concern especially if he is asked to translate to the defensive end position.
  • Needs to get better fighting off blocks.

There is no doubt that in terms of pass rushing, Dupree is a very qualified prospect. He needs to show he can be more than a pass rusher in the NFL to be a super star.
