New York Giants: Could Team Sign Vince Wilfork?

The New York Giants spent the first day of free agency making very small but effective moves. They seem as if they want to stock up on defense, which makes a lot of sense considering their defense was one of the worst in the NFL last season.

It looks as if the Giants aren’t going to sign a huge name in free agency. However it is possible that general manager, Jerry Reese, has one more trick up his sleeve. The Giants need to beef up their defensive line, and what’s a better way to do that than by signing Wilfork?

Yesterday the Giants signed two former New England Patriots, Shane Vereen and Jonathan Casillas. Maybe they can do a little convincing and help bring Wilfork along.

Wilfork would make the Giants defensive line instantly more dangerous. Having Jason Pierre-Paul rushing the edge and Wilfork rushing the middle is a scary combination for any quarterback.

Giants fans can dream all they want about this, because it may never become a reality. Reese should go to great lengths to make sure it happens, but he isn’t that kind of GM this year.

Reese needs to make at least one big splash in the free agency frenzy of the NFL. The Giants have been overly quiet which means something must be brewing behind closed doors. Within the coming days, the Giants will hopefully sign or trade for a notable player.
