5. Durell Eskridge

Many think Syracuse safety, Durell Eskridge, isn’t exactly ready for the next level yet because of his inconsistent play in 2014, but his size is what makes him stand out in my mind. At 6’3″ Eskridge presents the size you look for at the safety position, but could definitely add a little bulk to his 208 lb. frame.

When watching tape of Eskridge what really jumps off the screen is his tackling ability. I don’t see Eskridge as the rare ball-hawking safety that many teams drool over, but rather one that plays in the box. I think he would be an excellent contributor on special teams, but may take a few years to develop the true instincts for the position.
