I’m sorry to say it New York Giants fans, but the dog days of the offseason are here. Until training camp there isn’t really anything to satisfy your football fix. If you’re like me, this is the most daunting few months of the year. If you’re like me, football is what you live for, it’s what gets you through the day and what makes you await the next.
Nothing beats the thrill of an NFL Sunday. The hope you wake up with charges you more than your daily coffee ever could. Nothing beats having a three and a half hour escape from reality.
When the Giants are on the field, nothing else in the world matters. Not the presentation you’re dreading to give on Monday, not the overtime you put in on Friday, nothing matters but rooting for Big Blue.
That’s the beauty of football. In a football game everything matters. Every snap, every first down, every touchdown and every field goal add up to a win or a loss. Every moment has you at the edge of your seat. Every successful play for the Giants matters. Life is filled with boat loads of trivial moments and piles of busy work, football is filled with meaningful moments.

When the Giants win (especially if it’s against the Cowboys) Monday seems a little easier to bear. You walk a little taller, there is a little extra pep in your step. You love the game because it matters; you love the game because it has become a part of who you are.
There’s a reason I wake up every morning, chug my Diet Coke, make an awesome breakfast taco and start clicking the keys of the keyboard. The reason is that I love football. It is who I am and it is what I do. I’ve been hooked on it since I was ten years old, the game will always be a part of me.
The offseason isn’t an easy time. The football Sunday’s that make you whole, that electrify your soul, they’re not there. But the promise of a new season is there. The sun will keep coming up and the moon will keep taking it’s place in the sky, eventually leading to the day football returns.
Until then I have a promise for you. Every day GMENHQ will provide you with your football fix. We’ll give you opinions and analysis on Giants news. We’ll pose interesting questions about the next season and play through all the varying possibilities.
I promise that if you let us, we will get you till the football season. It may not be as exciting as an Eli Manning touchdown pass to Odell Beckham Jr. in the back of the end zone, but in the offseason it’s the little daily dose of football you need.
