As if his infamous one-handed grabs weren’t known already, it’ll be on the cover of EA Sports Madden 16. The New York Giants‘ wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. won the fan poll on Wednesday. The Rookie of the Year won with 52 percent of the vote to beat out New England Patriots’ tight end Rob Gronkowski. Beckham Jr. becomes the first Giants player to be featured on the cover of Madden, which is an honor yet a risk.
If you’re an avid Madden player, then you should know about the curse. The Madden curse hits all the players that have been featured as they either perform horribly or get injured when the season kicks-off. Beckham Jr. has only been in the league one year, but has turned some heads. The Los Angeles native made one-handed catches look easy not only at practice, but during games.

His stellar numbers earned him Offensive Rookie of the Year with his 91 receptions for 1,305 yards while scoring 12 touchdowns. There were four candidates in total along with Beckham Jr. and Gronkowski. The other was Pittsburgh Steelers’ wide receiver Antonio Brown, who led the league in catches and receiving yards. The last candidate was Arizona Cardinals’ cornerback Patrick Peterson who intercepted 15 passes in just four years.
All the candidates have undeniable talent, but Beckham Jr. was more impressive. At only the age of 22, Beckham Jr. has become a sensation in the NFL and will most likely continue to do so. Beckham Jr. is too young for the Madden curse to hit him, so I don’t think he’s too concerned (But let’s all knock on wood, just to be safe).
