New York Giants: 5 Players Who Need To Step Up

1. Ereck Flowers:
Ready or not, Ereck Flowers has to be a quality starter in his rookie season. With the Beatty injury, the Giants cannot afford to have growing pains from Flowers, who may need to start at left tackle right away. This is an opportunity for Flowers to show how special he can be, as he will be thrown into the mix right away.
The Giants can start Justin Pugh at right tackle and have a few decent options on their roster at the guard positions. If Flowers can fill in as the left tackle for this team, the Giants offensive line might be a strength for this team after all. The Giants have to hope for the best with their rookie offensive tackle.
Of the 5 players on this list, Flowers is the biggest question mark there is. Flowers isn’t a finished product. He comes into the NFL with raw pass protection skills and struggling with speed off the edge at time. He surely won’t be perfect in his first season. The Giants don’t need perfection but they do need Flowers to prove that he was worthy of the ninth overall draft pick.
