Morning Donut With The New York Giants: OTA
Good morning to everyone in Giants Nation! OTA’s are the time for rumors and speculation about the season to come. With that in mind Morning Donut brings you the most interesting stories from around the internet. Here we go Giants fans!
Five offensive players with the most to gain during Giants’ OTAs by Dan Schneier (Fox Sports)
"In wake of the Beatty injury, Vereen’s role could expand in 2015. Vereen could become Manning’s first option when pass protection breaks down. The Giants could also expand Vereen’s role in the short middle of the field if they are forced to use tight ends to help in pass protection. Vereen also has an opportunity to showcase himself as a true running back."
New York Giants: Lack of cornerback depth will hurt team by Ryan Disdier (FanSided, NFL Spin Zone)
"The only issue, though, is when Amukamara or Rodgers-Cromartie goes down with an injury, and McBride is forced into the starting lineup. McBride did start 10 games for the Giants in 2013, but a scenario in which he’s alone on the outside with guys like Dez Bryant or Julio Jones isn’t ideal."
Should New York Giants sign Jake Long? by Joe Soriano (FanSided, NFL Spin Zone)
"It is important to note that while Long may suffer a drop in performance as a result of the severe knee injury, he was the only competent blocker on the Rams nightmare offensive line last season."
Giants OTA Practice Report; Things we learned (5/29) by Dan Salomone (Giants.com)
"The Giants’ back seven on defense were active on Friday. They came close a handful of times to getting the second interception of OTAs but couldn’t cash in for the turnover."
3 Standout Players at OTA Practice (5/29) by Dan Salomone (Giants.com)
"Today he jumped in front of a Manning pass intended for running back Rashad Jennings out of the backfield during 7-on-7 drills. Collins was able to swat it to the ground for an incompletion."
Landon Collins: Giants got the best safety in the draft by Josh Alper (Pro Football Talk, NBC Sports)
"“It bothers me, because I know that I’m not a box safety. I can play in the box, but I’m not a box safety,” Collins said, via Jenny Vrentas of TheMMQB.com. “When I started hearing that, I told the teams, ‘You can look at the film. I’m not a box safety.’ … I’m about to showcase why I’m not a box safety, and why I should have been in the first round. The Giants know they got the best safety that came out of that draft.”"
