1. Eli Manning’s Increased Efficiency

One of the most underrated aspects of quarterback play is efficiency. What I mean by efficiency is how much the quarterback gets out of each play. I look at things like completion percentage and touchdown to interception ratio as well. Eli Manning has always been a good quarterback but he always needed to improve on his efficiency numbers. In 2014 he did just that.

Last season, Manning had a completion percentage of 63.1 percent. His completion percentage had been under 60 percent for two seasons prior to that. His career completion percentage is 59 percent. Manning has had 6 seasons in which he has had a completion percentage of under 60 percent. Manning also had a great touchdown to interception ratio. He threw for 30 touchdowns and only 14 interceptions. In 2013 Manning threw for 27 interceptions making 2014 a gigantic turn around. Manning averaged a very respectable 7.3 yards per pass.

It is clear that Manning became a more efficient passer in the 2014 season. Ben McAdoo is a perfect offensive coordinator and he allows Manning to get into a rhythm. This allows Manning to have a stronger performance. The fact that Manning did so well in his first season with McAdoo’s offense leads you to believe he will only become a better and more efficient quarterback in 2015.
