1. Steve Spagnuolo Is Going To Bring The Heat

If there’s one thing Spagnuolo knows how to do, it’s create a pass rush. The players have already reported that they are very happy to be a part of Spagnuolo’s aggressive defense. The Giants made a lot of depth signings this offseason so Spagnuolo has more than enough tools to get something going.

One issue he has to worry about is the linebackers. They may be the weakest unit on the entire team. Jon Beason holds the defense together when he’s on the field, but he can’t stay healthy. Even though Beason is an important player, offenses and quarterbacks won’t be worried about him. Opposing quarterbacks will be watching out for Devon Kennard.

Kennard is primed for a breakout season. He showed signs of brilliance last year and hopefully will continue to shine in training camp. Pro Football Focus named him a “Secret Superstar.” Spagnuolo needs to mentor Kennard into becoming a tackling machine.

Last but not least comes the secondary. Spagnuolo says the development of it is going to take time. Personally, I think their secondary isn’t as big of an issue as everyone is making it out to be. Once Jason Pierre-Paul and company apply the pressure, the secondary should have no problem picking apart the scraps of the opposing offense. A quality pass rush can go a long way in this league.
