1. Low Risk, High Reward

The Giants had nothing to lose when they brought in Jones. Jones is an affordable player that they signed to a one year contract. The Giants aren’t looking for a long-term star here. They are looking for a player who can come in and produce if his name is called. The Giants needed an insurance policy to Victor Cruz, who is still not completely back to his superstar self.

While Jones certainly isn’t a Cruz caliber player he can contribute to the offense. The Giants signed a veteran player who understands the offense (a point we’ll get to on the next slide). Jones may not be the biggest star in the NFL but he can make a pretty big impact on the team if all things go right.

In the west coast offense, with other receivers who can go deep, he doesn’t need to be as explosive as he once was.
