New York Giants: Rueben Randle, Odell Beckham Shined

The New York Giants got their first win of the 2015 season against the Washington Redskins on Thursday Night Football. Rueben Randle and Odell Beckham were a big part of the potentially season changing victory. Randle and Beckham combined for 14 receptions 195 yards and two touchdowns.

Rueben Randle needed to step up for this Giants team. We already knew that Beckham was going to put on a show. We needed to see Randle deliver and so him doing so is a big deal. Randle had the touchdown reception that sealed the game for the Giants. On a critical 3rd and 9 the Giants elected to throw the ball late in the fourth quarter. The pass was tipped and Randle caught it over Bashaud Breeland to extend the lead to 32-21.

Beckham also got the chance to make Breeland the victim of dominant receiving play. Breeland was covering Beckham in man coverage. Beckham, who ran a post into the end zone leaped and caught the football at its highest point which never gave Breeland the chance to make the play.

Randle was a big play waiting to happen in this game. He averaged 16.6 yards per reception in the contest. Randle has always had the talent. This isn’t the first time that the former LSU Tiger has shown flashes of brilliance. Randle needs to take the next step, being a consistent weapon in Ben McAdoo’s offense. If he can do that the sky may just be the limit for the Giants offense.

The Giants are done with the Preston Parker experiment. They have Beckham back on his super pace of productivity and Randle is starting to show he is a star himself. When Victor Cruz returns (all signs point to next week) this offense will live up to the hype it had coming into the season.
