The New York Giants are in first place of the NFC East at 3-2. This is phenomenal news that Giants fans should be thrilled about. The path to the playoffs is clear but the Giants still have to get the job done. Cautious optimism moving forward is warranted.

What a difference a month makes right? September could not have gone worse for the Giants. The Giants had a horrendous looking preseason. The Giants lost their first two games. They blew two fourth quarter leads, the first of which was against the hated Dallas Cowboys. All hope seemed lost with the Giants at 0-2.
Well October came and washed away the pain. The Giants beat the Washington Redskins, Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers all in a row. The Cowboys have lost three straight games with out Tony Romo under center and the Giants have the division lead. Things are almost too good to be true for Big Blue.
We have to remember though that the Giants have a long season in front of them and that the NFL is a week to week league. We also have to remember that the Giants have given up more points and yards in the final quarter than anybody in the NFL. The Giants have climbed out of their 0-2 hole but they haven’t escaped all their demons.
The Giants now must fight the Philadelphia Eagles on ESPN’s Monday Night Football. The Eagles are a team that have had the Giants number in the recent past, they swept the Giants in 2014. The Eagles are coming off an impressive 39-17 victory to the New Orleans Saints. The Eagles haven’t looked very good this season but if they can beat the Giants, they will tie the Giants for first place in the division.
The Giants offense is beginning to roll. The defense has been greatly improved from last season, though is still a work in progress. The Giants have given us a lot of reason for confidence. We should be optimistic, but cautiously. The mountain hasn’t been climbed yet.
