9. Jim Burt – NT, Miami Hurricanes (1981)

Approximate Value with Giants: 42

Average AV per season: 7

In their article on the list of best undrafted players of all-time, NFL.com called Burt the “heart of the great Giants defense of the ’80s”, placing him in the top 50. Burt played in 93 games over 8 seasons with the Giants, starting 70. Over his career with Big Blue, he recovered 10 fumbles and collected 18 sacks. He made the Pro Bowl and Pro Football Weekly’s First Team All-NFC roster in his best season (1986), the same season he “invented” the Gatorade shower celebration. Burt also was a force in 1984 and 1985, notching 11 sacks over those two seasons. Of course, no one will ever forget his hit on Joe Montana that knocked him out of the NFC Divisional Round playoff game and caused Montana’s pass to get intercepted by Lawrence Taylor who returned it for a touchdown in a 49-3 rout at home.
