8. Rich Seubert – G, Western Illinois Leathernecks (2001)
Approximate Value with Giants: 45
Average AV per season: 7
Seubert became the starting left guard for the Giants in 2002 and was the eligible receiver who was incorrectly flagged on the botched field goal and the final play in the NFC Wild Card game against the San Francisco 49ers.
In October of the next season (2003), Seubert broke his tibia, fibula, and ankle in a game against the Philadelphia Eagles. After enduring 5 surgeries, he missed the entire 2004 season then returned to play in the final four games of 2005. In 2006, he was used mostly as an eligible tackle. From 2007 – 2010, Seubert was the starting left guard, missing only two games over that four-year span, and garnering an approximate value of 8 in each one of those seasons.
In his final season with the team, Seubert received Big Blue Interactive’s “Giant of the Year” Award and praise from GM Jerry Reese, who called him the MVP of the team.
