Wide receiver Terrelle Pryor is one of the most coveted free agents on the open market. The New York Giants are reportedly interested in acquiring him.

Though the New York Giants aren’t necessarily in the market for a high-level wide receiver, Jerry Reese is the type of general manager who evaluates all options. Thus, with the Victor Cruz era now behind us, it’s fair to assume that Reese will see who’s available and at what cost.

Though nothing is imminent, it appears as though Reese has found his first target at wide receiver: Terrelle Pryor.

One could argue that no player did more to revive their career in 2016 than Pryor. He made a wildly successful transition from quarterback to wide receiver and and is expected to seek a considerable payday.

According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, the Giants are one of five reported teams showing interest in signing Pryor.

"Terrelle Pryor is drawing interest from his hometown Steelers, the Giants, 49ers, Titans and Eagles as the free agency two-day negotiating window opens on Tuesday at noon, league sources told cleveland.com."

That’s an intriguing development on the free agency front.

Pryor finished the 2016 regular season with 77 receptions for 1,007 yards and four touchdowns. He picked up 48 first downs, averaged 13.1 yards per reception, and even ran for a touchdown in a display of his versatility.

Though the sample size is small, Pryor did enough on a team with erratic quarterback play to warrant interest from teams that have a more reliable option under center.

Despite being a quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes and Oakland Raiders, Pryor appears to have found his football calling as a wide receiver.

New York already has a pair of high-level wide receivers in Odell Beckham Jr. and Sterling Shepard. Both stand at 5’11” or shorter, however, while Pryor has elite size at 6’4″ and 223 pounds—an intriguing reality for a team that needs to add size to the receiving corps.

Adding Pryor would have an undeniable layer of appeal, as well as drawbacks that would need to be accounted for.
