No. 6 – Grant Haley

Three players in Big Blue’s secondary crack this list, highlighting the level of competition at the back end of New York’s defense.

Undrafted free agent Grant Haley is surely in the mix to earn a roster spot due to his ability to man the nickel cornerback position. The 5-foot-9, 190-pound rookie has been a name to watch this offseason.

He recorded 22 passes defended and five interceptions during his collegiate career at Penn State. He also allowed the second-lowest passer rating among draft-eligible corners in the Big Ten when targeted last season, according to Pro Football Focus.

The recent addition of Sam Beal in the Supplemental Draft has only made things more interesting. The use of Big Blue’s 2019 third-round draft pick should likely result in a roster spot.

That leaves William Gay, B.W. Webb, Chris Lewis-Harris, Donte Deayon, and Haley to duel it out at the cornerback position. Gay’s experience should make him the favorite to cover the slot. However, he did lose his starting nickel role to undrafted free agent Mike Hilton in Pittsburgh.
