5 New York Giants making the most of their preseason snaps

No. 3 – Wayne Gallman
This should come as no surprise given Wayne Gallman’s play through the first two preseason games.
Saquon Barkley’s injury scare last week only highlighted Gallman’s importance to Big Blue, and he surely delivered against the Lions last Friday. The second-year running back out of Clemson scored two touchdowns on the road in Detroit and has already amassed 73 yards on 14 touches this preseason.
Gallman has proven himself a reliable option out the backfield both as a ball carrier and receiver. Shurmur spoke about the development of the 23-year-old after the team’s win on Friday, via New York’s team website.
"“I think so, you know the whole camp, and actually starting in the spring I saw improvement from him. We saw improvement from him and when you see a young man who’s fighting to be good, and have success in the game—it doesn’t matter whether it’s a preseason game when you cross the goal line, there’s that feeling you get and he got to do it twice.”"
At this point, the only question is why isn’t Gallman listed as Barkley’s backup. He is undoubtedly the second best running back on New York’s roster and has outplayed Jonathan Stewart this preseason.
