No. 3 – Ereck Flowers

Most Giants fans are likely shaking their heads when reading Ereck Flowers’ name on this list. How many times will Big Blue back their former first-round pick despite three-plus years of poor play?

Clearly, his transition to right tackle has not helped his performance. The Giants only other option is to start Chad Wheeler, but the coaching staff still believes Flowers is the team’s best option.

It’s up to him to prove them right. However, the 24-year-old out of Miami has let down coaches in the past. It’s not as though Flowers is the only one playing poorly along the offensive line. The whole unit is struggling with the exception of Hernandez.

John Greco will also be making his first start at center for the New York Giants on Sunday. But there seems to be less concern regarding the 11-year veteran replacing Jon Halapio than Flowers’ play.

Giants fans have seen this movie before. Asking Flowers to step up while being let down over and over again. The best-case scenario for Big Blue would be to not hear Flowers’ name during Sunday’s game.

The Giants don’t need him to be an All-Pro at right tackle. That ship has sailed. They just need him to execute his assignments, and to give Manning more than two seconds to make a read downfield.
