And now, we introduce the man of the hour, NY Giants kicker, Aldrick Rosas.

Unfortunately, the reasons for him being the man of the hour are not of the positive variety, enraging the Big Blue fan base who were already down on him after a rough 2019 season.

I’ve been on record as recently as after his mediocre 2019 season that I believe the NY Giants need to keep him around due to the massive potential he showed during his 2018 All-Pro (not Pro Bowl, but All-Pro) season – All-Pro kickers don’t grow on trees.

The troubling part, besides the recent arrest, is that when you read his three-year stat line it makes your head spin due to the up-and-down nature of his alternating good and bad seasons.

For example, his overall field goal conversion rates in 2017-2018-2019 read like this; 72%/97%/70.6%. Additionally – and this is the part that gets NY Giants fans the most fired up – his extra point statistics mirror those, as his three-year XP conversion rates read as 87%/96.9%/89.7% — enough to make wonder if this is even the same guy each of these years.

So, should Aldrick Rosas survive this recent arrest problem (of which it wasn’t even his first DUI), you better believe he’s got a ton to prove to the team, and for himself, as he’s on a one-year restricted free agent contract that can be pulled at any time.

It’s going to be an uphill battle for Rosas when you combined the legal troubles and his recent struggles, but if he can man up and do the work that needs to be done to get back to that 2018 level he could be the kicker for this franchise for a decade.

That’s the outcome I’m hoping for, as steady – and even more so All-Pro level – kickers are incredibly hard to find.
